Scale Collect
How would you define a 5 star movie on this rating scale?
With movies I use the below as a rating system. I really don't have a definition for 5 stars, because in a couple of months if not sooner I'd probably have a new favorite.So any idea on what definition I could use for 5 stars?
* - Wouldn't watch ever again
** - Would watch if it were on tv but wouldn't rent.
*** - Liked enough to rent but not to buy.
**** - I'll buy, but in a couple of months it will be collecting dust.
***** - ?
The rating I'd give movies has nothing to do with if I'd watch it/ how I'd watch it again. Mostly, because I don't like watching things I've already seen.
***** to me means great acting, dialog, mis en scene, writing, theme, ect.
**** lacking in one area, or very slightly lacking in a couple
*** has one really good area, but the rest are sub par, or all elements are roughly standard
** Elements are lacking, nothing stands out as great, and some areas are substandard.
* Most Film elements are lacking to the point of absent.
Granted, I consider myself somebody who watches movie for artistic quality, not just entertainment.
