How to remove old oilpaint from Airfix plastic soldiers safely?
Any of these may work:
"Drugstore" Isopropyl rubbing Alcohol, 91% strength, not 70% strength. Soak and scrub with soft bristle tootbrush
Two cups of laundry detergent mixed with a half gallon water in a
glass or porcelain vessel, DON'T USE ALUMINUM VESSEL, it corrodes. Let soak 1-2 days. Non-toxic.
Two to three ounces of liquid 'Sp ic' and Span mixed with about an ounce of ammonia in warm water. Let the part sit for 5 - 10 minutes and scrub off the paint.
NON-acetone nail polish remover. Soak 30 minutes – use toothbrush. I repeat this is the NON-acetone nail polish remover. If you use any nail polish remover or other product containing acetone, your figures will be destroyed.
PineSol – soak for a couple of hours then use a soft bristle toothbrush.
Easy Off Oven Cleaner - soak for a couple of hours then use a soft bristle toothbrush.
